European Melioidosis Congress

16th–18th May 2022 | Graz

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we would like to invite you cordially to attend the  European Melioidosis Congress (EMC) 2022, which will be held from Monday 16th May until Wednesday 18th May 2022 in Graz, Austria. Our Congress will begin with a welcome reception on the evening of 16th May and end the evening of 18th May. The venue will be at Congress Graz in the middle of the historical city centre.

As a focus of this conference we aim to create a program which attracts both, scientists from the melioidosis and the glanders community. Burkholderia pseudomallei, causative agent of melioidosis and its clonal descendant Burkholderia mallei, causing glanders, coexist in many parts of the world, where diagnostic capabilities are limited. Distinguishing these infections in humans and animals might be difficult. The under-recognition of melioidosis and glanders in endemic areas, imported cases through global travel and a recent multistate outbreak of melioidosis in the United States through an imported product highlight the need for global surveillance programs.

We welcome contributions on melioidosis and glanders in humans and animals. The scope includes: Clinical aspects, Diagnostics, Antibiotic Treatment and Resistance, Epidemiology, Genomics, Pathogenesis, Immune Response, Environmental Aspects (B. pseudomallei), Vaccine and Prevention.

We particularly encourage young investigators to join the meeting and present their work.

LATE BREAKER abstract deadline: 2 May 2022

Further information, including abstract template and submission, scientific program, accommodation, logistics etc. will follow.

We are very delighted to welcome you in Graz and Austria!

With best wishes

Chairperson, EMC 2022 Organizing Committee
